Volunteering at BCO
We simply couldn’t do what we do without our incredible team of volunteers. Whether you’re an individual, a business, or part of a school group, we warmly welcome new volunteers from all walks of life and with diverse skill sets.
What Our Volunteers Do
Offer Compassionate Support: Provide a listening ear to those in need. As simple as having a cuppa and having a laugh.
Extend Warm Hospitality: Create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Provide Practical Assistance: Help administer emergency food relief, cook meals (onsite and off-site), collect and sort donations etc.
Help Facilite Group Activities: Our volunteers support us carry out various activities, groups and projects, ensuring that each is meaningful.
Skills We’re Looking For
We’re always on the lookout for compassionate volunteers with a range of skills to support our community initiatives. Some of the areas where we currently need assistance include:
Food Preparation: Helping with meal preparation and kitchen support.
Community Choir Assistance: Supporting our choir activities, whether through coordination or participation.
Community Dance Assistance: Assisting with dance sessions, ensuring a fun and inclusive environment.
Community Art and Craft Assistance: Guiding and supporting participants in our art and craft activities.
Fruit and Vegetable Collection: Helping with the collection of fresh produce, available twice a week in the mornings.
Sorting and Managing Supplies: Organising and managing donations of clothing, food, and other essential items.
General Maintenance and Handyman Activities: Providing maintenance support to keep our facilities in top shape.
Event Assistance: Supporting the planning and execution of community events.
Driving Participants: Transporting participants to community activities and appointments.
Professional Skills: Offering your expertise in areas like hairdressing, massage, sewing, and more.
Additionally, we have special projects, such as our End of Year Christmas Hamper Project, where volunteers can make a significant impact during the holiday season.
We comply with both the National and Uniting Church standards for volunteers that require us to undertake checks, provide induction, training and ongoing support.
